The purpose of this research is to find out what film magazines do to stand out from others so many I can apply this in the future. I have to find out what makes them unique and why someone would read it. It might be eye catching or might have something that appeals to the public. I am also doing this research to compare and contrast the differences between theses film magazines and many improve on some of their ideas. 

Entertainment Weekly 

Entertainment weekly is an American magazine that includes film , TV , music , theater and books and is published by Meredith Corporation. The layout for this magazine is pretty typical for most film magazines with the a large title and image of a film or TV show that's been talked about on the front cover. Sometimes the name of the film is larger than the title for the magazine probably for some sort of promotion for the film. There's always a few line maybe explaining something about the film or TV show, or telling you why you should be excited for it. Sometimes they add little sub heading for other stories in the magazine and the number of the page it is. The magazine opens with news and notes. this contains current pop culture events. This usually runs to eight to ten pages long which contains
short articles and recommendations for films, tv music or books. The rest of the magazine has things like movie or tv review. Then the magazine then goes on to talk about a rage of different of media recently realised like film, tv, books , theater, games and tech.

Total magazine is a British film magazine that is published every month with an extra magazine published in the summer. The magazine was published in 1997 and it usually contains things like cinema , DVD, Blu ray news, reviews and some other features. The magazine is available in print and also interactive iPad editions. Each month total film provides interviews from actors and directors,and the make of sets for upcoming films. each issue always contains a 'total film interview' which is a six page in depth chat with actors and directors and critique of there previous work.There cover is the normal layout for most film magazines with the the name of of the magazine dominating the cover and the main film of that month as the cover. There are little quotes and reviews all around the cover for other films being covered in the magazine as well.


These two magazines are very similar on the cover and  within the magazine. These magazines are probably  similar because they're trying to hit the same demographic. People that watch films always want to know what new film they should watch and also the trivia and interviews they offer. The idea that these magazines put big budget films and a list actors on the cover. This is done for advertising purposes and also to catch the readers eye so they'll be inclined to pick it up and read it. One difference between these two magazines is that entertainment has little sentences and quotes referencing some of the things that will be covered later in the magazine whereas total magazine will just name the film being covered.

Magazine Article   Venom has been out for just over a week now and its been getting massive attraction in the media. The film seems to have the fans split in the middle. Critics seem to really dislike it for its plot holes and the portrayal of venom whereas the general public seems to really enjoy the film and think its a fun ride start to end. My personal opinion on the film is that its not very good. The pacing of the film is very slow at the beginning and the portrayal of venom is very disappointing who is presented as a "loser". You don't see or understand the motivations  for some of the charters and why they do what they do. The film falls with a lot of its cringe dialogue and the arational bad one liners. The action was very dark and hard to see at some points especially toward the end. The magazine gives a chance for advertisers of a film or T.V. show to promote and share with readers about their products. A film magazine is meant to provide information about a specific media product like film, T.V., music and games. These are all things that I will cover in my magazine I extreme detail. This will be interviews with director and actors or even just people that worked close in a film, and they will give insider information about the film they’re working on. They can also tell us about their experience work on it and what it was like. The will be reviews of the latest movie in the main stream or even more indie. They will be done be a range of critics. With a range of differing opinions. There will be reader recommendations where we will talk about and recommend films worth watching that may not be in the public eye....
